Motivational Speech

I could really do with a rousing motivational speech.  The consultant doesn’t want me to take the strong opioids, without the strong opioids my pain is at level 8.  To remind you what that means, I have put the pain scale below.  I am trying to stay positive but when all you can think about is how much you hurt, it becomes difficult.   Extremely difficult.

My Pain

For years I have equated my pain to a 7 without pain medication.  The medication has always reduced it to a 4 or 5.  At the moment I am at a 9 the morphine drops me to an 8 and the caudal epidural I was supposed to have on Saturday has been cancelled because of my new symptoms.

Quite frankly I don’t know how much longer I can stand this pain.  Like I said, I really need a motivational speech right now, or someone to take this pain away!

I have so much I want to do.  I want to write for Food 4 Thought, especially as it is my suggestion but I can’t concentrate.  This post has taken me 3 hours so far.  183 words in 3 hours, and I have taken diazepam.  Without it I would still be curled up in a ball.

Where’s that motivational speech?

Well, I just don’t have one in me.

      1. I also struggle with the pain of MS. I find that when I’m down I see someone who is less fortunate than me and it helps to know that I’m not that bad off. Good luck with your journey and may you find relief.

  1. Oh I can’t imagine dealing with an 8 on a daily basis. That is horrible. I’m at a sporadic 6 with my knee right now and if it was constant I’d be crying. I really hope you get some relief soon. They need to do SOMETHING for you. Be kind to yourself. If writing is too much for you we would all understand. Though is it a good distraction for you? I like the pain chart btw, it describes the levels well.

    1. Hi s.e. it’s a good distraction when I can focus on it. This morning I couldn’t, and I am frequently in tears….. 😔 I hope your knee eases ☺️ pain isn’t good

  2. Having such pain also takes an incredible amount of energy from a person and screams in a person’s every cell. In my hospice and palliative work I sought to support worked a number of persons and their family members. They told me that underlying everything their being believed, trusted, and knowing from family and staff’s verbal and nonverbal communications they were loved, helped them persevere. Even though some found a measure of relief through my being a vehicle for Reiki spiritual energy healing, others nerve blocks, still others were helped by surgical implantation of very small electrodes in very specific brain locations, and more. Don’t give up! Trust your feelings, intuitive physical observations, your hopes. Sit together in silence with those who love you and focus on sharing nonverbal loving energy and just be together. May my heartsong reach out to surround you with healing

  3. I am so sorry about this. I wish the doctors would get it together and do the surgery you need! When I was hospitalized last I had pain that immobilized me, so I understand how all-consuming it is. Distractions probably won’t work, but there’s a chance they might, if only a little bit.
